After a 2-hour bus ride and 2-mile hike I arrived in Queens exhausted and was eager to sit down and grab a bite to eat. It had been a rough day as I was struggling with the stress of a new job and some life changes. I felt uneasy and a little sad. Luckily, I stumbled upon Portofino and decided to get a couple of pizza slices in their casual section. I placed an order at the counter and was greeted with a smile and a warm setting. The guy told me to go around the corner to the tables and that he would gladly bring it out to me when it was ready. My mood was lifted and I was put at ease and settled in. Moments later, he brought out the hot food on a nice pasta dish and asked if I needed anything else. I sat and enjoyed the Italian music playing softly in the clean, comfortable dining space. I felt welcomed and relaxed as if I had arrived home. I lingered and asked for cheesecake as the employee kept checking on my well-being. I was so thankful for the reasonably priced and delicious meal. I will definitely be returning every time I visit Queens maybe next time in the more formal dining room section. Thank you!

Have lived in Forest Hills for years and never went here. Finally went with two friends and pleasantly surprised. All our food was tasty and the service was pleasant. White tablecloths and a somewhat more formal atmosphere. But not oppressive. Shared a calamari appetizer and a beet salad. The salad was nice but nothing special. One person had the whole branzino and loved it. I had the pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe. Delicious. I would definitely eat it again. And one person had Penne ala vodka. Again very pleased. Shared a lemon desert, which was tasty and light. This place isn't cheap. But I wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend it.

The service was amazing, the server was very attentive and recommended us to try this Italian cheesecake off the dessert platter. The ambience was nice, clean and there was a piano for live music they do sometimes. The food was yummy, I enjoyed my Caesar salad the most!

Portofino has delicious Italian food - you can't go wrong with anything you order here. Listen up for the specials, but find comfort in knowing whatever you order will be delicious. The tortellini del nonna is a tricolored tortellini pasta in Alfredo sauce with ham and peas and it's absolutely amazing! Our go to appetizers are fried zucchini sticks and calamari. If you're not feeling a sit down dinner, they have a pizzeria next door for a more casual vibe. The staff here is super friendly and attentive. They treat you like family whenever you are here - kudos to Carmine for always making this place feel like home. The restaurant itself is cozy, but spacious and makes it a great place to get together with friends and chat. Street parking around here is pretty decent, so you'll most likely find a spot. It's a close walk from the F train if you're commuting via transit too!

My sister lives near Portofino and really likes it, so during my last visit we stopped by for lunch together. Immediately loved their old school decor (including lovely Easter bunny tower when we were there) and classically prepared Italian food served by polite professional staff. Food was excellent overall. My Veal Portofino consisted of pounded lightly sauteed veal scallopini blanketed with fresh chopped fresh tomatoes, scallions and a touch of white wine. A light flavorful dish, came with a side of al dente pasta marinara. Sister's generously sized veal chop was prepared medium well the way she likes it. (She's very picky/selective about her food, no problem at all for Portofino as they aim to please). Seafood risotto for the table was perfectly prepared, a hefty portion and not overcooked as it often is at other places. Tartufo dessert was scrumptious and plenty to share. The room wasn't crowded, but it was early on a weekday so can't comment about weekends or busier times. Parking can be a challenge in this area so we parked a few blocks away and walked there, no biggie on a nice cool day.
